MCLEAN, VA – Skanska, a leading global development and construction firm, announced today that two new retail tenants will join its mixed-use development in McLean. Sunday Morning Bakehouse will be located in Heming’s ground-floor retail space adjacent to the residential lobby and Apparati Wellness Studio will occupy approximately 3,700 SF on Platform Avenue. Heming is located in Scotts Run, a 6.5 million-square-foot mixed-use project at the foot of the McLean Silver Line Metro station off Route 123 in Northern Virginia.
“We are delighted to have two new local retailers join our growing neighborhood and cannot wait for our community to experience first-class wellness at Apparati Wellness Studio and an all-day community gathering spot like Sunday Morning Bakehouse,” said Mark Carroll, Executive Vice President and Regional Manager of Skanska USA Commercial Development’s D.C. market. “Both concepts align with our vision of Heming becoming a true live-work-play destination in this area.”
Sunday Morning Bakehouse is a family and female-owned elevated bakery offering handmade croissants, seasonal breads and pastries, and special occasion cakes made with high-quality ingredients. Expected to open in winter 2024, Sunday Morning Bakehouse will occupy 3,100 square feet of ground-floor space at Heming. After immense success at its initial North Bethesda, Maryland location at Pike & Rose, the Heming location will be Sunday Morning Bakehouse’s second store and its first location in Northern Virginia.
“My goal in creating Sunday Morning Bakehouse was to provide a place for people to come and have a moment of peace whether it’s catching up with a friend over a cup of coffee and fresh croissant or having lunch outside of the office,” said Caroline Yi, chef and owner of Sunday Morning Bakehouse. “I wanted people to know where their food was coming from and know that their bread and pastries were baked fresh that day. We’re excited to expand into Northern Virginia and provide the same amazing food people know and love to a new community.”
Apparati will redefine what it means to work out and achieve wellness as we know it. Combining cutting-edge technologies like AI, machine-learning and real-time data feedback, Apparati harnesses science in futuristic ways to deliver unheard-of conditioning, strength, endurance and weight-loss results — with unbelievably shorter and more efficient workouts. Previously only available to elite athletes and Hollywood celebrities, Apparati will offer 20 different fitness/training and wellness modalities and treatment stations in lieu of the typical workout machines at most gyms.
“Never before has anyone been able to offer so many wellness and mindfulness technologies under one roof,” said Ochkhuu “O” Batsukh, Apparati COO and general manager. “Maximizing the latest hi-tech and drawing on Eastern relaxation and recovery methodologies, Apparati is truly unlike anything out there.”
Ethos Tenant Company represented Sunday Morning Bakehouse, while KLNB represented Skanska in the transaction. Inquiries for remaining retail space may be directed to Kim Stein, Jennifer Price, Matt Skalet and Kelly Atkinson of KLNB.
Sunday Morning Bakehouse and Apparati Wellness Studio will join Heming’s slate of retailers including Modan and Body Fit Training. Heming features 410 apartment units ranging from studios to three bedrooms atop 38,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space.
Skanska’s current projects in the greater D.C. area include OZMA, a 12-story, mixed-use development with 275 luxury apartments in NoMa; 17xM, an 11-story, 334,000-square-foot trophy building in D.C.’s central business district; 2112 Penn, an 11-story, 230,000-square-foot, trophy office building in Foggy Bottom; and 3901 Fairfax, a nine-story, 201,000-square-foot office building with ground-floor plaza and retail in Arlington.
